Jasper is the trained cyborg program that will be implemented in the rescue attempt found in "A Plague of Years". It's worth nothing some of the following when considering a cyborg's role as a character in a Systems Novel. --- Herbert Marcuse, a prominent member of the Frankfurt School and a critical theorist, critiqued the ways in which advanced industrial societies shape and control individuals through what he termed "one-dimensional thinking." To speculate on how Marcuse might describe the training of a cyborg to be a human-servant and an ambassador of Goodness, we can draw on his critiques of technology, rationality, and social control. Marcuse's Perspective on Technology and Rationality Instrumental Rationality: Marcuse argued that advanced industrial societies use technology and rationality primarily as tools for control and domination, rather than liberation. Technological Domination: He was critical of how technology could be used to perpetuate the status quo and suppress dissent.
